Jimmy Chen joined Comgest in 2017 and is a Hong Kong-based Analyst and Portfolio Manager specialising in Greater China equities.
Prior to joining the firm, Jimmy worked for Sanford C. Bernstein as a Senior Research Associate specialised in Asia-Pacific regional telecoms. He previously spent five years as a consultant with Bain & Company working with clients across various industries (ranging from consumer to industrial) and was based in Australia (2 years) and China (3 years).
Jimmy is fluent in Mandarin, obtained a Bachelors of Commerce & Law (with Honours) from the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia and is a CFA® charterholder.
Makoto Egami joined Comgest in 2013 and is a Tokyo-based Analyst and Portfolio Manager specialising in Japanese equities.
He started his career in 2001 at JP Morgan Chase in Tokyo as a credit Analyst and went on to work for US-based Taiyo Pacific Partners as an investment professional before moving on to Macquarie as a Japanese small-mid cap Analyst. Makoto also held the position of senior industry Analyst at Google Japan.
He graduated from Keio University with a BA in Economics and holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management (USA), as well as the CMA from the Securities Analysts Association of Japan.
Adam Hakkou joined Comgest in 2012 and is a Singapore-based Analyst and Portfolio Manager specialising in Asia Pacific ex Japan equities.
Adam co-leads the Asia ex Japan, Asia Pac ex Japan strategies. He contributes widely to the Asian team’s research coverage, identifying quality growth investment opportunities across diverse sectors and geographies.
Adam graduated from the NEOMA Business School in France with a Master’s degree in Finance and Entrepreneurial Management and obtained an Advanced Master’s in Finance and Asset Management from the ESSEC Business School in Paris where he was an active member of the school’s investment fund. Adam is a CFA® charterholder.
Junzaburo Hyuga joined Comgest in 2018 and is a Tokyo-based Analyst and specialising in Japanese equities.
Junzaburo contributes to idea generation and researching Japanese companies within diverse sectors. He started his career in 2010 at Rakuten Securities before moving to JP Morgan Chase in Tokyo where he worked within the transaction banking division. Before joining Comgest Junzaburo was a strategy consultant at Strategy& (formerly Booz & Co.), covering various industries in Japan.
Junzaburo graduated from Keio University with a BA in Political Science and holds an MBA from the Leonard N. Stern School of Business at New York University.
Viva Jiang joined Comgest in 2022 and is an ESG Analyst responsible for ESG coverage of Asian and Global Emerging Markets.
He meets and engages with company management alongside the firm’s investment Analysts and prepares in-depth ESG reports. Prior to Comgest, Viva joined Robocap in 2020 as an Investment Analyst, responsible for covering global advanced industrial and technology sectors. He was also in charge of ESG integration and a member of the company’s ESG committee. He previously worked for Changfu Asset Management in Shanghai as an Investment Analyst covering technology, consumer and public service sectors in China.
Viva holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and a Master’s degree in Finance from London Business School (UK). He is a CFA® charterholder and holds a Certificate in ESG Investing from the CFA Institute.
Jasmine Kang joined Comgest in 2014 and is a Hong Kong-based Analyst and Portfolio Manager specialising in Greater China equities as well as a non-executive member of the Board of Partners and a Managing Director of Comgest Far East Limited.
Jasmine co-manages Comgest’s China strategy. Before joining Comgest, she worked at China Everbright Asset Management as Investment Director responsible for China onshore and offshore equity research and investment. Jasmine began her career in 2005 at BNP Paribas Investment Partners where she focused on Asian equities as a research analyst and portfolio manager.
A native Mandarin speaker, Jasmine has a Master’s degree in International Economics from Shanghai University of Finance and Economics and completed Harvard Business School’s Senior Executive Leadership Program. She is a CFA® charterholder.
Richard Kaye joined Comgest in 2009 and is a Tokyo-based Analyst and Portfolio Manager specialising in Japanese equities. He is also a member of the Comgest Group's Investment Committee.
With a wealth of experience in Japanese equities, Richard became co-lead of Comgest’s Japan equity strategy upon joining the Group. He started his career in 1994 as an Analyst with the Industrial Bank of Japan and then joined Merrill Lynch in the same role in 1996. In 2005 he moved to the Wellington Management Company in Boston as a Portfolio Manager of Japanese TMT stocks.
Richard graduated from Oxford University where he majored in Oriental Studies.
Swati Madhabushi joined Comgest in 2019 and is a Singapore-based Analyst and Portfolio Manager specialising in Indian equities.
Prior to joining Comgest, she worked with East Capital in Hong Kong for five years focusing on India, ASEAN and frontier Asia markets. She previously worked on the sell-side with UBS covering Indian financials.
Swati holds a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from the India Institute of Technology, Kharagpur and a post-graduate diploma from the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta. She is also a CFA® charterholder and fluent in Hindi.
Caroline Maes joined Comgest in 2012 and is an Analyst and Portfolio Manager specialising in Global Emerging Markets and Asian equities.
Caroline began her career with Comgest in Singapore and is now based in Paris where, in addition to her portfolio manager duties, she is also the GEM Business Manager. With over 10 years of investment experience, she began her career in 2003 as a Research Associate at Alliance Bernstein in New York before moving to the IPO department of UOB Kay Hian in Singapore in 2006. Caroline then joined CLSA in Singapore where she held the role of equity research Analyst for more than five years and won the Business Times - Starmine award for her stock recommendations.
She graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Quantitative Economics and International Relations from Tufts University in the USA.
